The Hindu festival of Diwali, also known as Deepavali, signifying the triumph of good over evil will be celebrated on 26th October in 2011 in Sri Lanka. Deepavali is an official holiday in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, Malaysia, Singapore, and Fiji. Together with these countries, Singapore and Nepal too celebrate Diwali with great fervor, pomp and enthusiasm.
